6 On James
About This Spot
Stepping into 6 On James, you immediately sense a warm and inviting spot where the heartbeat of Angola gently pulses through its cozy vibe. This is a place where evenings slow down just enough to allow conversation, laughter, and the clink of glasses to fill the air without ever feeling rushed. The soft hum of live music often lingers in the background, wrapping the space with a familiar, relaxed energy that welcomes both longtime locals and curious visitors alike.
The pace here is unpretentious and easygoing, a perfect balance between a beloved neighborhood gathering place and a lively bar that knows how to keep things spirited without overwhelming. The ambiance is intimate but not tight, with a pet-friendly patio that extends the experience outdoors when the weather beckons, making it a versatile choice for any kind of get-together.
As you settle in, the menu reveals itself not as an endless scroll, but as a carefully curated selection meant to complement the atmosphere rather than dominate it. Whether it’s the satisfying comfort found in a well-crafted burger or the unexpected delight of seared pork belly pasta, dishes here invite connection rather than competition. Paired with one of their thoughtfully chosen bourbons or a refreshing beer from a robust local and craft selection, each meal tells a story of familiarity filtered through a simple but genuine lens.
6 On James is less about showmanship and more about genuine moments — a shared plate of summer poke wontons encouraging conversation, a rich cinnamon roll cheesecake ending a balanced meal on a sweet note, or a cocktail crafted with both care and an eye for intriguing flavors. Staff here tend to the details with quiet attentiveness, offering a friendly presence without feeling overly formal or staged.
It’s a place where the menu, the drinks, and the music all gently nudge you toward slowing down and savoring something deeper than just a meal. In every sense, 6 On James feels like discovering a well-loved corner where time seems to pause, if only for a little while, inviting you to return again and again.

Nice and cozy local restaurant. There are not a lot on the menu, but a good number of dishes so you don't get overwhelmed, which I appreciated. They have live music when I was there and the atmosphere was incredible inside the restaurant. Food was great, cooked nicely and the staff were friendly. They have a good list of wine, beer and cocktails that you can choose from as well

This a nice setting on the lake. Their selection of bourbon is one of the best that I have seen. They have your standard bourbons as well as some nice allocated bourbons. The food was good but not amazing. Service seemed a little cold as the bar tender seemed to not be too concerned about our presence. Overall you need to visit this place and check out the bourbons. Maybe we just had an off night for the service.

6 on James had the largest spirits list I've ever seen and a very good beer selection as well. Our server was extremely attentive and very nice as well. They also had some really enjoyable livw music playing. Only downside was the food. It wasn't bad, but for the pricing, the portions were small and it tasted like cheap bar food. Not what we were expecting. Overall, it's a place I'd enjoy visiting again.

Tuna Poke Appetizer was amazing. Had great service from both Julia & Josh. Will definitely return. Also pet friendly patio, and covered patio for rain.
